The only female aspirant for Kogi State gubernatorial election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Iye Grace Adejo, has vowed to change the impression that women are weaker vessels if given the mandate.
Adejo, who was at the Wadata House (PDP) National Secretariat yesterday to submit her nomination form, said she would liberate the womenfolk even though she is not a feminist.
She said: “For me, it is another step closer to the dawn of freedom and progress for Kogi State.
“As women, we are naturally nurturers. You give us a house, we turn it to a home. Kogi will be a beautiful and true home for us if I come in by the grace of God.”
She said it is women that usually bear the brunt of every societal failure, adding that she wants to cushion that effect by empowering them through agriculture, skills acquisitions and health support, especially in area of maternal mortality.
