Kogi: SDP guber candidate promises to float construction body
Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, Alhaji Murtala Ajaka, has promised to establish the Kogi Construction Corporation Board (KCCB), if elected.
The corporation is expected to be directly responsible for construction of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure, towards improving Kogi economy and enhancing job creation.
Ajaka, in a chat with journalists in Abuja, yesterday, noted the deplorable state of roads in the state, and enthused that the establishment of KCCB would help to address the issue of road network.
“I propose the implementation of Kogi Construction Action Plan (KCAP). Under this plan, we will establish the KCCB, of which I will proudly serve as Chairman. KCCB will facilitate road construction and maintenance projects within our state. Rather than rely on external contractors, we will take matters into our own hands by acquiring the necessary equipment and expertise.”
“By adopting this approach, we aim at ensuring that road construction is carried out effectively, keeping the interests of our citizens at the forefront. It is my firm belief that by taking direct responsibility for the improvement of our road infrastructure, we can achieve long-lasting results that truly benefit the people of our great state,” he said.
The SDP standard-bearer specifically said KCCB would be a statutory body, under KCAP, responsible for coordinating all road construction and maintenance activities in the state.
“The board will comprise representatives of government, private sector and civil society. KCCB will acquire the necessary equipment for road construction and maintenance projects. This will allow us to be more efficient in our work,” he added.
He listed the benefits of the plan to include improved quality of life, increased job creation and economic development by making Kogi roads accessible for businesses.
