Kwara launches Independence edition of Future Minds AI Bootcamp for youth

Kwara State, in partnership with Digital Equity Africa, will host the Future Minds AI Learning Bootcamp – Independence Edition – from October 1 to 5, 2025, at the Kwara State Innovation Hub in Ilorin. The four-day program aims to provide children and teenagers aged six to seventeen with practical exposure to Artificial Intelligence, digital literacy, and emerging technologies.

Speaking on the initiative, Justina Nnam Oha, CEO of Digital Equity Africa and Founder of Future Minds AI, said the bootcamp is designed to equip young people with the skills needed to navigate the evolving digital economy.

“This Independence Edition is not only about celebrating Nigeria’s progress, but also about empowering our young people with the tools, confidence, and knowledge to shape the future,” Oha said. “With the support of the Kwara State Government and the Ilorin Innovation Hub, we are ensuring that Kwara’s young people are not left behind in the AI revolution.”

Mr Temi Kolawole, Director of the Ilorin Innovation Hub, emphasised the strategic importance of the program for the state’s economic and technological growth.

“At Ilorin Innovation Hub, we believe digital literacy is a cornerstone for economic growth and social inclusion. Hosting the Future Minds AI Bootcamp aligns perfectly with our mission to make Kwara State a leader in digital innovation. By equipping our young people with AI and future-ready skills, we are laying the foundation for a thriving digital economy,” Kolawole stated.

The bootcamp curriculum, developed in collaboration with UNESCO, combines practical workshops, interactive projects, and mentorship sessions, allowing participants to explore real-world applications of AI across sectors such as health, education, and agriculture.

The programme is part of Kwara State’s broader efforts to integrate technology and innovation into youth development initiatives, positioning the state as a hub for digital skills training in Nigeria.

According to the organizers, the Independence Edition aims to foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and technological fluency among participants, ensuring that the next generation is prepared for future career opportunities and societal challenges in a rapidly digitalizing world.
