Lagos Assembly loses member, Alimi

A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kazeem Ademola Alimi is dead. The lawmaker, who represented Eti Osa Constituency 1 in the Assembly died yesterday two weeks after his 50th birthday after a brief illness.

A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kazeem Ademola Alimi is dead. The lawmaker, who represented Eti Osa Constituency 1 in the Assembly died yesterday two weeks after his 50th birthday after a brief illness.

A statement by Musbau Razak, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, confirmed that the lawmaker died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

A two-time lawmaker, Alimi until his death, was the chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. He is survived by his wife and children.

A source who pleaded for anonymity said Alimi had been sick immediately he marked his 50th birthday two weeks ago and never recovered from the illness. He was said to be at the Critical Care Unit at LASUTH for four days until he died.

Alimi was born on 3 July, 1967. He started his education at Moba Community Primary School, Moba, Eti-Osa. He attended Government College, Maroko, Eti-Osa and obtained a Bachelor Degree in Economics from the Lagos State University, LASU.

The deceased had over the years worked with the Lagos State House of Assembly, 1992-2001; Lagos Internal Revenue Service, as Head, CPO, 2001-2010; Lagos State House of Assembly, 2011-2015 and until his death, a lawmaker in the House.
