Lagos CP orders manhunt for killer of gateman, attack on JAMB officials

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, yesterday, ordered a manhunt for gunmen who attacked some officials of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and killed one in Mabila Hotel in Ikorodu area of the state.

Police recover Chinese-made pistol
 
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, yesterday, ordered a manhunt for gunmen who attacked some officials of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and killed one in Mabila Hotel in Ikorodu area of the state.

   
According to the police, unknown gunmen killed the gateman identified as Peter, while trying to prevent robbers in the early hours of yesterday.
   
Two officials of JAMB, who lodged there, including one Prof. Odunsi, was robbed of his two phones, one HP Laptop and N20, 000 cash , while two female officials were also robbed of their phones and jewellery.
  
Spokesperson for the state Command, Superintendent of Police (SP), Benjamin Hundeyin , said the gateman died before he was rushed to the hospital, while  a full investigation has begun on the matter. He said: “ The CP has assured that a full investigation into the crime would be made. He has ordered a manhunt for the suspects.”

MEANWHILE, officers of the Safer Highway unit of Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old man,  Bamidele Taiwo, for illegal possession of firearms.
   
The suspect was arrested during a routine stop-and-search at an entry point between Lagos and Ogun states in the Alagbado area of the state.
   
Two other suspects, who were with Bamidele on the same motorcycle took to their heels immediately the police discovered the Chinese-made pistol in their bag.
  
While efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects, Bamidele and the exhibit have been transferred to the state Headquarters for further investigations.
