A federal lawmaker, representing Ojo Federal Constituency, Lagos State, Seyi Sowunmi, is set to make significant impact this festive season with plan to give back to his constituents through the distribution of food items, cloths and other materials in the state.

The programme is scheduled for December 21, 2024, at 11 am at Ajagbandi High School, Ojo.

Speaking on the initiative, Sowunmi said the decision to provide foods and other items to the less privileged underscores his commitment to uplifting the lives of his constituents during a time that is often marked by generosity and community spirit.

He said: “The welfare programme will provide essential items to those in need, showcasing my dedication to addressing the challenges faced by families in the constituency. The distribution will include 1,200 bags of rice, 100 units of 5-liter vegetable oil, 3,000 pieces of spaghetti, and 988 pieces of baby diapers. Additionally, the programme will offer 1,500 sachets of tomato paste, 400 plastic buckets, and 400 mosquito nets to ensure that families have access to basic necessities.”

He further stated that “in a bid to cater to the diverse needs of the community, the programme will also provide 5 yards of Guinea material for 400 individuals, 1,200 packets of seasoning cubes, and six yards of wax prints for 400 people. Moreover, 800 pieces of sanitary pads and 400 pieces of children’s wear will be distributed, emphasizing his commitment to promoting health and well-being among women and children in the community.”

Sowunmi, who is also the deputy caucus leader of Labour Party in the House of Representatives and national chairman of Labour Party Legislators Forum has consistently demonstrated his leadership prowess and selflessness through various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of his constituents.
