Lagos NIPR holds stakeholders’ confab today

The Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) would today hold a conference to address the challenges facing education in Nigeria.

The Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) would today hold a conference to address the challenges facing education in Nigeria.

The Lead Strategist of Addefort Limited, Olabamiji Adeleye explained that the conference topic was chosen because the future of a country depends on a functional education.

The theme of the conference, which would hold at MUSON Centre, Lagos is, “Media, communication and the challenge of quality education for national development.”

He said this bridge-building conference, the fourth in the series, was aimed at proffering solutions to the socio-political and economic challenges in the country.

Adeleye said there was the need to engage key stakeholders for a better perspective on how to enhance the country’s quality of education.Media and communications’ practitioners, corporate organisations and heads of educational institutions are among the key players expected at the event.

Adeleye disclosed that Addefort founder, Senator Ben Bruce would deliver the conference lecture, which would also have key policy influencers in attendance.

The Minster of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu would speak on “Strategies for revamping Nigeria’s educational system for national development,” while the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, would deliver a paper on “Bridging the nation’s education gap in the 21st century.”

The Chairman, Governing Board, First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Mrs. Ibukun Awosika would chair the session. Also, the Chairman, Lagos State NIPR, Mr. Olusegun McMedal, stressed that the institute attaches great importance to the quality of education.

McMedalsaid: “In building on the success of the previous three editions, this fourth conference would climax with a Stakeholders and Sponsors’ Recognitions Awards.”

He said the awards would recognise some selected individuals and organisations that have contributed to the development of the country’s education sector.
