The Lagos State branch of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has reaffirmed that Dr Babajide Saheed is no longer the Chairman of the branch.
According to the association, Saheed’s removal from office was duly effected by the congress of the association at a properly constituted emergency general meeting held on April 18, 2026, at Hall 36, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos, following findings of alleged multiple infractions and violations of the rules and regulations guiding the association.
In a statement signed by the state Chairman, Dr Ewonowo Temidire, and Secretary, Dr O. J. Hassan, the association noted that the congress, being the highest decision-making body of NMA Lagos State, extensively deliberated on the issues presented before it and subsequently resolved, through a valid and constitutional process, that Saheed be removed from office with immediate effect.
The duo, while reacting to the recent recognition of Saheed as the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of NMA by the national body, said that the disciplinary and constitutional procedures relevant to the matter were duly observed, in line with the association’s rules and regulations.
The statement read in part: “Consequently, Dr B.K.S Saheed ceases to function, represent, transact, correspond, or act in any capacity whatsoever as chairman or elected officer of NMA Lagos State.
“Accordingly, all individuals, institutions, organisations, corporate bodies, financial institutions, government agencies, and partners are hereby advised to refrain from conducting any official transaction, engagement, negotiation, or correspondence with Dr B.K.S. Saheed on behalf of NMA Lagos State, as he no longer possesses any authority or mandate to represent the association.”
