Lagos PDP, Agbaje differ on allegations of exploitation

The crisis rocking Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worsened yesterday as a faction loyal to former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George, alleged that its gubernatorial candidate, Jimi Agbaje, mismanaged campaign funds and exploited members.

State Chairman of the party, Dr. Agboola Dominic, who spoke at a media briefing alongside political adviser to George, Uthman Shodipe-Dosunmu, said Agbaje was not prepared to win the 2019 governorship election.

He also faulted Agbaje over his statement in which he described Chief George as someone of ‘a sick mind’, while also condemning comment credited to Agbaje accusing George of being behind speculations of his exit, adding that the speculations could have only emanated from people of ‘sick mind.

It, therefore, expressed disappointment at the comment attributed to Agbaje, saying he did not portray himself as a thoroughbred Yoruba man.

But Director of Media and Publicity, Jimi Agabje Campaign Organisation, Felix Oboagwina, described the allegations as packs of lies that could not stand the test of time or convince anybody.

“Agbaje ran an inclusive campaign according to the structure drawn by the national headquarters. Dominic himself was imposed by George as chairman against the party’s wish, while the chairman was endorsed as candidate from another party on the eve of elections,” he stated.
