Lagos PDP laments flood disaster, urges citizens to hold APC responsible
Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) should be held responsible for the losses incurred owing to flooding occasioned by the torrential rains in the state.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hakeem Amode, the party said the state government’s ineptitude to manage the water canals and other waterways channels had contributed to the current flooding being witnessed in the state.
He said that the Lagos State government’s apologies would not have been necessary if it has ameliorated the effect of the torrential rain on the people and their commercial activities, which remain the backbone of the prosperity of the state.
Amode said that the government should get serious with governance and concentrate on ensuring that these channels are well-maintained and regularly cleared to stop what residents are currently witnessing.
According to him, the state requires a responsive leader like Dr Olajide Adediran and a people-oriented government to ensure that the impact of torrential rains and climate change does not have an adverse effect on the people.
He said that while citizens of the state groaned under the excruciating effects of the flood, the current governor was revelling at social gatherings outside the state.
