Lagos State debunks allegation of sabotage in polio vaccination

No Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) was engaged in the recent vaccination against polio campaign in the Centre of Excellence, Lagos State government said yesterday.

It described as untrue reports that an unidentified NGO has been going round public schools to undermine the just-concluded programme by administering vaccines that could compromise the health of pupils.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB), Dr. Tayo Lawal, discarded the media reports as false, untenable and a misrepresentation of the position of the government on the successful implementation of the oral polio vaccination campaign, which held from May 18 to 22.

According to Lawal, the just-concluded campaign was carried out by government-funded health institutions and service organisations.
