‘Lagos state government is committed to ensuring free flow traffic’

The Lagos State Government has said it would continue to ensure free flow of traffic on Lagos roads, through using infrastructure to ease points of gridlock.

The Commissioner for Transport, Prince Lanre Elegushi, said this yesterday, at a stakeholders’ meeting to brief residents of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, on the phase 2 road project in Alapere.

Elegushi said the state government is a responsible and responsive one that cares about the welfare of the people, especially ensuring that residents have no challenges driving and commuting freely through roads.

The Commissioner said it is the reason government wants to dualise and upgrade Kazeem Street, so that vehicles could move freely from Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in and out Alapere and its environ.

He therefore appealed to the community to understand with government, especially the pains that might come with the construction of the road.

He appealed to residents to consider the overall good that the road will provide when it is completed.

Representatives of the residents commended the government for wanting to ease the perennial gridlock along its corridor, but appealed that government should compensate those whose houses and properties would be affected by the project.
