As part of efforts aimed at checking building collapse, the Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), has invited interested consultants in the built environment registered with relevant professional bodies to indicate interest in participating in the state’s building Certified Accreditors Programme (CAP).

In a statement, yesterday, it said that CAP aimed at leveraging on the peculiar expertise and experience of private sector professionals to further accelerate LASBCA’s effectiveness towards optimum service delivery with the view to actualise its operational mandates of ensuring that all new and existing buildings in Lagos State are fit for human habitation and also avert incidence of building collapses.

General Manager of LASBCA, GbolahanOwodunni Oki, while commenting on the call for expression of interest, said that the state is set to engage consultants who will act as certified accreditors to complement the activities of government officials in screening of drawings, stage inspections and monitoring activities for compliance with the Lagos State Building Control Regulations.

He said that the programme was in line with the policy of the government to make the state sustainable, resilient and attractive to businesses through physical planning and urban development.

Oki further disclosed that the state government would consider consultants in the built environment who are duly registered to practise in Nigeria and with proven capabilities, considerable experience, track records of good performance and must be registered members of their respective professional bodies.

He, therefore, called on interested members of the public with the requisite qualifications/requirements in the built environment to obtain an Expression of Interest Form upon payment of the stipulated fee from the General Manager’s Office at LASBCA Headquarters, Room 101-First Floor, MuizBanire Way, Old Secretariat, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, from 3rd June 3 till July 12, 2024.

Oki noted further that the collection of expression of interest form does not constitute a commitment on the part of the state and/or LASBCA to award the project to any consultant(s).
