Lagos U.S Consulate reopens office after temporary shutdown
After a temporary shutdown of its office on Wednesday, the Lagos consulate has announced that it will reopen on March 17 for both visas and American Citizen Services (ACS).
“Due to reasons beyond our control, we are temporarily unable to provide regular services for visas and American Citizen Services in Lagos, but other offices within the Consulate General remain open, the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria said in a statement on March 11.
Applicants and American citizens with emergency travel plans were advised to consult the Abuja office for enquiries on their applications.
“We regret the inconvenience this unanticipated interruption of service in Lagos caused,” the embassy said in another statement announcing the reopening of the Lagos office.
The consulate said it will contact Visa applicants with cancelled appointments between March 11 and March 16 to reschedule.
Visa and ACS applicants with an existing appointment for Tuesday, March 17 2020 are advised to be at the office as previously scheduled.
