Lapo Ekun-elect, Odulaja, promises to make Ijebu commercially vibrant

The Lapo Ekun-elect in Ijebu-Ode, Tunde Odulaja, has pledged that Ijasi in Ijebu-Ode will continue to thrive as a community under his reign, saying that his vision for the people is to see Ijebu being vibrant in their commercial ventures and more people being educated.

The Lapo Ekun-elect in Ijebu-Ode, Tunde Odulaja, has pledged that Ijasi in Ijebu-Ode will continue to thrive as a community under his reign, saying that his vision for the people is to see Ijebu being vibrant in their commercial ventures and more people being educated.

Odulaja, who is expected to go into seclusion for seven days, beginning today, October 1, 2024, ahead of his coronation on Saturday, October 12, 2024, would pray for the Awujale of Ijebuland, Ijebu Ode communities as well as seeking spiritual interventions for all other chiefs, Otunbas and the good people of Ijasi community.

He appreciated the Awujale and the community for finding him worthy of the throne.

The Lapo Ekun, who said that he would prioritise the education of the girl-child, noted that the secular nature of the Ijebu is an added advantage for him and that he would tap into the opportunity to foster friendship, unity and harmony during his reign.

He said: “We have Muslims, Christians and traditionalists and we all co-habit in peace. We will continue to strive for a peaceful co-existence among our people to bring meaningful development to Ijebu.

“In terms of our culture, the Ijebu are always on point. We are proud of our dress, food, working and administrative culture as well as and the ‘Isese.”
