Lagos State Government, yesterday, announced partial road closure for the commissioning of critical infrastructure projects today, April 8, 2026, and tomorrow, April 9, 2026, by President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Transport, Oluseun Osiyemi, said the events require the temporary closure of roads in specific areas to ensure safety and the smooth conduct of proceedings.
Motorists were, therefore, advised to plan their movement and avoid the affected corridors during the designated times to minimise traffic disruptions and travel delays.
“On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be commissioned between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. All motorists transiting this corridor during the specified hours should seek alternative routes.
“On Thursday, April 9, 2026, two commissioning events are scheduled during the morning and afternoon hours from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The first event is the commissioning of Tolu Schools Complex, which will affect traffic in the Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle areas.
“Later the same evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., another event will take place at Eko Hotel and Victoria Island. Motorists in the Victoria Island corridor are advised to avoid the area,” he stated.
MEANWHILE, the state government has dismissed reports of a rift between President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, describing such claims as unfounded.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, while speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, said that suggestions of a strained relationship between the two leaders are based on speculation.
Omotoso added that there had been no indication from the President suggesting dissatisfaction with Lagos State governor.
He noted that as Commander-in-Chief, Tinubu is free to visit any state, saying that such visits also reflect cordial relations with state governments.
According to him, no President will visit a state if he is not happy with the state governor.
