LASTMA discovers pump action gun inside impounded vehicle

Operatives of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have recovered a gun (Pump Action) inside an unregistered vehicle (Honda), impounded for driving against traffic (one-way) in Lagos.

Operatives of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have recovered a gun (Pump Action) inside an unregistered vehicle (Honda), impounded for driving against traffic (one-way) in Lagos.

Director, Public Affairs Department, LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, in a statement, yesterday, said owner of the impounded car was apprehended by the patrol team while driving against traffic around Sangotedo, inward Abijo G.R.A, along Lagos-Epe Expressway.

LASTMA General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba said policemen attached to officers on routine patrol around Lagos-Epe expressway were immediately alerted about the incident for confirmation.

He said: “As the driver of the vehicle noticed that the gun had been sighted inside his car he immediately took to his heel and was nowhere to be found anymore.

“The impounded vehicle had been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ilasan Police Station for further investigations.

Oreagba appealed to members of the public to be security conscious as the year is coming to an end and must ensure that they report any suspected movement within their environment to nearby security agent of government.
