Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Lagos State Police Command have agreed to strengthen partnerships on traffic management in the state.

General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, disclosed this when Lagos State Commissioner for Police (CP), Idowu Owohunwa, paid him a courtesy visit at the Headquarters of the Agency in Oshodi, Lagos.

Oreagba said road users, particularly the motoring public would be most benefit of the partnership in the area of efficient and effective management of traffic as well as checking excesses of recalcitrant drivers, especially commercial bus drivers on Nigerian roads.

He highlighted areas where partnerships with Lagos State Police Command are most required including Iyana Oworonsoki, Iyana-Ipaja, Ojuelegba Bridge, Ikorodu Round-About, Ikorodu Road, Lekki-Ajah, Obalende, Marine/Eko bridge, Costain, Igando, Apapa-Oshodi expressway, Egbeda, Ketu amongst others.

Earlier in his welcome address, Assistant Comptroller of LASTMA, Mr. Jubril Oshodi, said the establishment of Lagos State School Safety Advocacy Programme (LASTSAP) by the agency was aimed at developing a better understanding of roads traffic safety and reducing the impact of trauma on the road.

Oshodi said the programme was also aimed at protecting the future and ensuring sustainable development by catching them young.

Speaking, CP Owohunwa commended the state government for the establishment of LASTMA.

While encouraging LASTMA officials not to be discouraged in spite of provocations, the CP assured of a structure that would be a bridge for both agencies of government.
