Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has commissioned newly acquired intensive care and operating equipment to enhance treatment precision.
Speaking at the commissioning at the weekend, the Chief Medical Director, LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, said the new equipment would have a profound impact on revolutionising patients’ well-being by enhancing reducing recovery times and improving healthcare outcomes.
Fabamwo explained that there is an increasing load of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) requiring patients in Lagos and environs, while the demand for ICU beds keeps increasing.
He said there is hardly a day in LASUTH, without a case or two referred for ICU care, noting that this concern is what made the hospital’s management expand its operating capabilities, knowing that the new theatre suite complex will attract more surgical cases.
Fabamwo revealed that LASUTH has expanded its ICU capacity with the procurement of five new ventilators, four new cardiac monitors and four theatre spaces equipped with four brand new anesthetic machines.
He appreciated the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, for his continuous support in ensuring healthcare service delivery is top notch in the state.
The Director, Clinical Services & Training, Prof. Adebowale Adekoya, appreciated the state for continually equipping the hospital and the governor for placing premium on accessible and affordable health care in the state-owned hospitals at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.
The Head of Anaesthetic Department, Dr. Funmi Ikotun, described the new equipment as a crucial step in the hospital’s ability to provide world-class healthcare to the people it serves and signifies the dedication of the health professionals to saving lives.
