The National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Iyalode Alaba Lawson is to be honoured as the Ambassador of Wiki Loves Women (WLW) in Nigeria.

Receiving the President of Wikimedia Nigeria, Olaniyan Olusola at the NACCIMA Secretariat yesterday, he revealed it was in recognition of the landmark achievements of Iyalode to the cause of Nigerian women and also in furtherance of the core objectives of partnership arrangement between Wikimedia Nigeria and WFM91.7. Wikimedia is a global movement whose mission is to bring Free Educational Contents to the world.

This project was conceptualised in the year 2015 by Isla Haddo of South Africa and Anthere Florence of France to promote and give visibility to women of African descent and to balance gender bias on online contents existing between female and their male counterparts.  The maiden edition of the project has featured Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Cote d’ivoire. The Nigerian version of the project added over 100 Biography of Nigerian women to Wikipedia, the world largest encyclopedia.

The mission of the partnership is to create awareness about Wikipedia among Nigerian women through partnership with credible institutions and personalities across the nation. Iyalode was selected among a pool of prominent women in Nigeria who have contributed immensely towards promoting the course of Nigerian women and Entrepreneurship development.
