The immediate past Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. Akan Okon, has identified the leadership recruitment process and bad leadership as the bane and major challenges plaguing the country at 62.

He called on the electorate to come out amass to vote for politicians that have solutions to the nation’s problems, urging the citizens to kick against the imposition of bad leaders and enthrone capable and qualified candidates with genuine interest.

He explained that selfish leaders, who refuse to take Nigeria as their constituency as well as corrupt leaders, who refuse to harness the country’s resources for development, have been fingered as destroying the country.

Okon said all instructions of the government must be strengthened, insisting that the country needs good leaders that would harness all positive resources in the country to move the country forward.

Okon stressed that the challenges of insecurity should urgently be looked into as well as the clamour for restructuring.

His words: “We must take seriously, leadership selection processes by ensuring that only people with proven capacity to deliver and right characters emerged. We need leaders, who understand the challenges and problems of Nigeria with a view to providing solutions.

“We need to look at the pedigree and antecedence of all candidates before voting for them. Our problem is not a lack or absence of resources. We have enough materials and human resources needed for developments, our problem is leadership.”

He called for a level playing ground for all contestants.
