Legislative representation: HURIWA lauds Kalu, challenges Okorocha, Ibezim on achievements
HUMAN Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), yesterday, lauded the Senate Chief Whip, Dr. Orji Kalu, for effective and quality representation of his senatorial district in the National Assembly since 2019, and challenged his counterparts, Rochas Okorocha and Chukwuma Ibezim to show their ‘successes’ as parliamentarians.
HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, in a statement, said lawmakers should be ready to give account of their representation in the National Assembly to ensure they are not just bench warmers in the green or red chamber, feeding fat on constituency funds without executing any constituency project for their people to enable them benefit from dividends of democracy.
HURIWA rated senators Okorocha and Ibezim of Orlu and Okigwe as worst senators in this legislative dispensation.
The group urged Okorocha and Ibezim to take a cue from Kalu’s strides as impactful parliamentarian, who has sponsored scores of bills and motions for the advancement of democratic tenets, and for the betterment of society.
