Libel: Ortom plans N10b suit against Oshiomhole
Governor Samuel Ortom has threatened to institute a N10b-suit against the national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, as punitive, general, exemplary and aggravated damages for alleged defamatory and libelous publications against him.
In a letter to the APC chairman by his lawyers, Samuel Irabor, dated August 10, 2018 and made available to The Guardian in Makurdi, Ortom made reference to several interviews and media briefings, where the APC chairman, Oshiomhole, allegedly defamed, maligned and demeaned his personality.
The governor’s counsel in the letter, also demanded for retraction/apology addressed to their client in respect of the false, defamatory and libelous statement made against him in the sponsored press conferences, as well as, an undertaking not to indulge in any such false publication against their client in future.
