MAFOGRAM old students seek end to ASUU strike, urge funding of education
The Old Students Association of Mafoluku Grammar Schools (MAFOGRAMS), 1992 Set, Oshodi, Lagos, has urged an end to the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.
It also urged the funding of the education sector in Nigeria.
The association gave the charge, at the weekend, during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the set, recognition of old teachers of the school and the unveiling of the set’s projects for the school.
President of the association, Taliat Kolawole, who said that the quality of any nation depends on its level of education, urged the Federal Government to meet with ASUU’s demand and end the strike.
Kolawole, who spoke on the anniversary, said: “We came back together in 2017 with the aim of ensuring that our members bond together and ensure that we take care of our alma mater.
“We gave scholarships to some students last year and currently we are building a N10 million computer laboratory, which will be completed before the end of the year. We must ensure that everyone is computer literate an
“We have also contributed immensely to our alma mater in several areas, which include renovation of laboratories and classrooms, donation of school uniforms, granting of scholarships to students of junior and senior schools, supporting old teachers, support for inter-house sports, among others.”
