The maiden Yoruba Cultural Festival in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, will begin on April 29, 2023.

The President, Yoruba Community, FCT, Chief Dr AbdulHakeem Mosebolatan, disclosed this in a statement made available to The Guardian, yesterday.

Yoruba Community FCT is the umbrella body of all Yoruba groups in Abuja, established to foster unity, promote culture, well being as well as champion the individual and collective cause of the Yoruba in the city.

In the statement, Mosebolatan disclosed that the Yoruba living in Abuja came together to organise the festival to present the Yoruba culture to the nation and the world, especially the Yoruba living outside their homeland.

“The Yoruba Cultural Festival is an initiative of the Yoruba Community, Abuja, envisioned and conceptualised as a yearly showcase of the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba through the exposition of the language, food, fashion, music, dance and other art forms in an atmosphere of fun and fanfare in Abuja,” he stated.

The statement further revealed that the three-day festival is scheduled to hold on April 29, 30 and May 1, 2023 at the Mini Stadium, Area 10, Abuja, from 9.00a.m. to 10p.m. daily.

Expected at the event are contingents from all the Yoruba-speaking states led by the state governors, Yoruba residents in Abuja and environs, the Yoruba from the North, Yoruba traditional rulers and leaders, representatives of Yoruba socio-cultural groups and associates, Yoruba culture advocates and enthusiasts as well as brands and corporate organisations.
