Maku, Isiaka urge love, forgiveness, sacrifice

Nasarawa State gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labaran Maku, has called on Christians in Nigeria and across the state to celebrate this Christmas with genuine love and forgiveness for their fellows.

Maku described Christmas as time when Christians all over the world commemorate the Birth of Jesus Christ, God’s gift of love for humanity. The former minister of information, in a statement yesterday in Lafia, the state capital, said: “Christmas period should be seen beyond just eating and drinking but moment of sober reflection about God’s love for humanity that compelled Him to send His only Son to save man from sins and suffering.”

He, however, urged Christians and Muslims alike to pray for peaceful general elections in 2019 free from any form of violence before, during and after the exercise.
Also, the gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has felicitated with Christians on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebration.

In a Yuletide message by the media office of his campaign organisation in Abeokuta, the state capital, Isiaka congratulated all Christians for witnessing another Christmas, noting that it is a time of the year that comes with a beautiful spirit and worthy tradition. The statement read in part: “I celebrate with my Christian brothers and sisters and everyone indeed – particularly in Ogun State – on the event of Christmas. It is a time to express the spirit of giving, sharing of love and display of sacrifice – which is truly the essence of this season.”

“The core of this celebration is about the Birth of Jesus Christ. His life-time and eventual sacrifice on the Cross are eternal lessons in love and sacrifice, which everyone should emulate to have a peaceful world.”
