Man 32 in police net for hacked father of 2 to death in Kogi

A thirty-two-year-old welder on Sunday night at a popular drinking spot in Lokoja, by Amusement park, simply called Murtala Dare killed one Carpenter by name Lukeman Kabiru, a father of two.

Dare was alleged to have stabbed Lukeman on the neck and died on the spot before help could come.

According to an eye witness account, at about 11:00 pm on Sunday, the said Dare reportedly wanted to fight a call girl for taking a customer behind a building for short service.

Dare was said to have interrupted the sex rump, threatened to beat the call girl, however, intervention by Lukeman to stop Dare from being violent, angered Dare who was alleged to have broken a bottle and stabbed Lukeman Kabiru on the neck.

Dare and Lukeman are neighbours, who own shop opposite the notorious drinking spot where call girls used the isolated area for a short time.

They said Dare was alleged to be a penchant for collecting a fee for the use of the open space for a short time.

Yesterday being Sunday at about 11:00 pm, makes people wonder what the duo could have been doing around there business premises at that odd hour of the night.

Meanwhile, some aggrieved youths had stormed the workshop of the welder and destroyed his property including big generator over the killing.

Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Police Public Relation Officer, (PPRO), DSP William Aya said the suspect who was arrested in his hideouts at the back of a Fuel Station, is in the police custody stressing that investigation into the matter is on.
