Man arrested for allegedly stealing iron rods in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, otherwise known as So-Safe Corps, have a 32-year-old man, Olanrewaju Adebayo for allegedly stealing three pieces of 16mm iron rods.

The suspect was arrested following a credible information over an alleged theft received on August 18, 2026 at about 7:00am.

The State Commander, (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement made available by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in a statement in Abeokuta, yesterday.

Ganzallo said that upon the receipt of the information operatives attached to Canaan City Divisional Headquarters led by Tajudeen Abdulkareem swung into action, arrested the suspect and recover the allegedly stolen materials.

He said suspect allegedly removed the three 16mm iron rods and subsequently conveyed them to another person’s premises, along Ilasa Road, Adebisi, Iyesi Ota, reportedly with the intention of selling them.

“At approximately 11am, operatives of the Corps successfully apprehended the suspect at the premises where he had allegedly taken the iron rods for the intended sale. The recovered iron rods were secured as exhibits, while the suspect was taken into custody.”The Commander noted.

He said that suspect and the recovered exhibits have subsequently been handed over to operatives attached to the Obasanjo Police Station for further investigation and appropriate legal action.

Ganzallo reiterated the Corps’ commitment to intelligence-led security operations, protection of lives and property, as well as effective collaboration with other security agencies in the fight against crime across the state.

He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information to security agencies whenever they observe suspicious activities.

“The safety of lives and property remains our priority. We will continue to work with other security agencies and will not relent in our efforts to make Ogun State and its environs safer for all residents,” the commander said.
