The Chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc. and Osun State governorship aspirant, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has been inducted into Marketing Edge’s Hall of Fame.

At the premier edition of the award night organised by Marketing Edge recently, the firm also honoured some other individuals who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers.

In his opening remarks at the event, the Publisher/Chief Executive Officer of Marketing Edge, John Ajayi, said the induction of personalities into the firm’s Hall of Fame attests to the greatness of men and women who have made distinguished contributions to their respective fields of endeavour.

He stated that each of the awardees has provided a crucial nexus between creativity and the economy, adding that “these innovative leaders have believed and still believe passionately in the evolutionary/revolutionary power of creativity.”

He added: “We are so proud to have these exceptional figures seated here tonight to join our Hall of Fame. I thank them for accepting to be part of the Marketing Edge family, and for inspiring the younger generation of entrepreneurs, visionary investors and inventors. We consider it an incredible honour, but I think what’s most important for everyone in this hall to know tonight is what the inductees mean to us, and what they mean to Nigeria, Africa and indeed to the world and to humanity.”

Speaking specifically on Ogunbiyi’s qualification for the award, the organiser said he had recorded huge success in insurance, real estate investments and oil and gas sectors, among others.

“Ogunbiyi does not only appreciate the importance and values practitioners bring to the table, he is a promoter of the marketing and advertising profession,” the firm said.

In his response, Ogunbiyi, said: “I want to appreciate Marketing Edge; it was indeed a great honour to be so inducted. What you have done today has come to stay. One thing about success is that it is a journey, not a destination; what Marketing Edge has done today is a challenge for them to do much more.”

Ogunbiyi advised that more people should join politics in Nigeria and not leave the running of the country into the hands of people that have been in the game for years.

“I want to encourage everyone present here not to look at politics as the game for the boys because that is why our country is the way it is today. We should take up the challenge of leadership and join Nigerian politics. I have seen it and I am in it; even though it’s rough, there is always a place for you and me. I want to say a big thank you to the Marketing Edge team,” he said.
