Kastina State Governor, Aminu Masari, will today commission a flyover, constructed at over N4.3 billion.

Located at the central roundabout in the Government Reserve Area (GRA) within the metropolis, the project, which began last May, is part of the state government’s urban renewal plan.

According to former Commissioner for Works, Tasiu Dandogoro, the project would decongest traffic, especially during festive periods.

The infrastructure is one of three multi-billion-naira road projects in the state capital, initiated by the outgoing administration last year.

The other two underpasses are sited at Kofan Kwaya and Kofan Kaura roundabouts, and were both executed at the cost of N5.8 billion.

Both projects were earlier commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari when he was in the state on an official visit a couple of months ago.

Today’s event is to be Masari’s last major official assignment before handing over to a new administration on May 29.

The governor had met with elders across the state, including the emirs of Katsina and Daura, Alhajis Abdulmumini Usman and Farouk Umar.

Masari thanked them for their support during his eight years tenure, even as he solicited same backing for the incoming administration.

The one-time Speaker of House of Representatives will hand over mantle of leadership to governor-elect, Dr. Dikko Radda of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), next Monday.
