Mautin Olorunleke, a distinguished multi-disciplinary film and media executive, brand strategist, and talent manager, is making waves in the entertainment industry, captivating hearts and minds through his exceptional storytelling prowess and strategic brand management expertise.
The Founder of Guguru Media, Olorunleke’s journey into the world of film and media has been nothing short of remarkable, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
From the early days of his career, Mautin’s passion for storytelling and filmmaking blossomed on production sets, where he witnessed the profound impact of movies as a medium to reach and educate people from all walks of life.
“To make the world a better place, storytelling can actually be a medium to reach and educate people,” he emphasized.
Recognizing the potential of films to empower underserved audiences without access to formal education, he saw them as a potent tool for positive change.
Driven by his passion for visual storytelling & brand strategy, Olorunleke pursued education in film production, digital marketing, and multimedia production, equipping himself with a well-rounded knowledge that fuels his creative endeavors.
With notable executive producer credits in successful Netflix movies like “Tanwa Savage” and “Mami Wata” premiered at Sundance Film Festival, he has firmly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the global film landscape
Notably, he has served as an executive producer for successful movies, like, “Tanwa Savage,” which is on Netflix; and more recently, the globally critically acclaimed African Fantasy Folklore Thriller titled “Mami Wata,” which premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award: Cinematography, which is the first by an indigenous Nigerian film – solidifying his position as a force to be reckoned with in the global film landscape.
As his career progressed, Mautin ventured into talent management, a natural evolution that saw him representing acclaimed actors like Uzor Arukwe and Kelechi Udegbe.
Reflecting on this transition, he shared, “My journey into talent management wasn’t something that was part of my original plan.” However, his exceptional work on the production of “Mami Wata” caught the attention of industry peers, further elevating his status in Nollywood.
Through meticulous efforts, Olorunleke strategically repositions the brands of the talents he manages, significantly enhancing their online presence and transforming them into household names within the competitive Nollywood industry.
He remarked, “The true test of managing a talent is not handling a talent that is already a household name because the work has already been done, but, it is about doing the real work of making an unknown person become a known talent to the public.”
Drawing from a deep understanding of the Nigerian audience’s psyche, Olorunleke employs a unique approach in his strategies.
“I have a triangle that connects my strategies together – it’s either I am tapping into their emotional side to get them to talk about certain things that I want them to talk about which, in turn, leads to conversion for my campaign, or, I tap into their controversial side which makes them see the three sides to a story,” he explained.
His ability to resonate with the audience has been instrumental in his success as a brand strategist and talent manager.
As the visionary Founder of Guguru Media, which he co-founded with his longtime creative partner, the renowned filmmaker, Gesh Salvador, Mautin Olorunleke continues to forge new paths in the entertainment industry, fostering creativity, and leaving a positive impact on the lives of audiences and talents alike.
