Mbah to meet stakeholders over ban on sit-at-home

Determined to sustain the ban on observance of sit-at-home on Mondays and ensure its compliance, the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has fixed Saturday, June 10, for a meeting with stakeholders.

Mbah, through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, said the meeting would be a follow up to his earlier consultation with various groups in the state.

Onyia’s statement reads in part: “Pursuant to the cancellation of sit-at-home order by Enugu State government, effective June 5, and as a follow-up to earlier consultations with various groups, the governor, hereby, invites the following stakeholders to a town-hall meeting on the way forward:

“Leaders of religious groups- Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), bishops and imams.

“Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, leaders of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), leaders of transport unions, heads of banks and other financial institutions, heads of security and intelligence agencies and leaders of neighbourhood watch/forest guard groups.”

The governor also invited vice chancellors, rectors and provosts of tertiary institutions, leaders of association, proprietors of private schools, representatives of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCORPS), heads of media organisations and students union leaders.

Others, according to the SSG, include leaders of the Nigeria Union of Raod Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and Tricycle Riders Association (TRA), among many others.

The meeting is expected to hold at the Banquet Hall, Old Government Lodge, Abakaliki Road, Government Reserved Area (GRA), Enugu, from 10:30 a.m. prompt.
