The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has suspended a Jos-based medical practitioner, Michael Owoicho-Odeh, for six months.

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has suspended a Jos-based medical practitioner, Michael Owoicho-Odeh, for six months.

He was suspended for malpractice and allegedly enticing one Mrs. Sharon Ifeoma Orji.

The five-member Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal sanctioned the medical doctor on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Jos.

The tribunal, chaired by Abba Waziri-Hassan, held that the doctor, found guilty on count one, between April 15 and October 25, 2014, or thereabout at ELROI Mission Hospital in Plateau State, engaged in malpractices and enticed Mrs. Orji during his medical practice.

Owoicho-Odeh has, however, pleaded not guilty.

In his counter-affidavit, the respondent denied knowing Mrs. Orji and her children and that he established his medical practice under the name ELROI Mission Hospital on April 15, 2014.

Owoicho-Odeh, who stressed that his first contact with Mrs. Orji was on October 25, 2014 (six months after he had established his own medical practice), further argued that Mrs. Orji was brought to his hospital by one Chukwuma Enweluani in a state of shock, following severe diarrhoea and about of throw-ups and was treated and discharged the following day.
