Military kills bandits, recovers arms in Kaduna

The troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army have killed several bandits and recovered arms while raiding various criminal hideouts during its Operation Whirl Punch in Kaduna State.

The Deputy Director, Army Public Relations of the division, Colonel Muhammad Dole, made the revelation in a statement.He said: “ On October 9, 2018, troops launched a raid on Kamuku Forest where bandits used to harbour and plan their nefarious activities. Several of them were neutralised and the camps destroyed.

“In another successful operation, a combined effort between the troops and local Vigilance group led to the identification of camp in Kidandan general area. As a result, one bandit was neutralised, others escaped with injuries and one AK 47 rifle with 25 rounds of 7.62mm special was recovered.”

The spokesman continued: “Likewise, acting on reliable information on activities of kidnappers at Unguwar Maigwari, troops swung into action, raided identified kidnappers’ camps along Doka-Rijana road. The camps were discovered to have been littered with empty alcoholic bottles, used syringes and some narcotic substances. During the exercise, one informant was arrested with three Dane guns recovered.”
