Mob justice claims life in Lagos, construction worker crushed to death

In a horrifying act of mob justice, a man identified as Monday was beaten to death by a group in Lagos State over alleged cable theft. The police have arrested two suspects, Samuel Lamak, 33, and Akeem Ahmed, 40, in connection with the incident which occurred on September 29.
According to the police, the suspects used copper wire to tie the victim’s neck, strangling him to death. The police have recovered the deceased’s body and deposited it at the morgue for autopsy.
In a separate incident, tragedy struck at a construction site in Opebi, Ikeja, when a labourer, Nwanneka Ogbonaya, 45, was killed after a building collapsed on him.
Ogbonaya was working at the demolition site of an old building when the incident occurred on September 27. He was immediately rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where he was pronounced dead. The police said the deceased’s family members insisted on taking his body to their hometown for burial against professional advice.
