The constituents of Ijero/Ekiti West/Efon Federal Constituency have endorsed the incumbent occupant of the federal legislative seat, Mrs. Omowumi Ogunlola, for a second term.

The constituents, comprising traditional rulers, youths, market women, elders and artisans, lauded Ogunlola’s exemplary leadership and quality representation at the lower legislative chamber, which they said, deserved another chance.

The Owa Ajero of Ijero-Ekiti, Oba Joseph Adewole, who spoke on behalf of other traditional rulers, said Ogunlola deserves another term on account of her sterling and unprecedented achievements.

He noted that the traditional rulers were rooting for her re-election into the Green Chamber for continuity because she has changed the face of representation in the federal constituency with masses savouring the dividends of democracy.
HOWEVER, wife of Ekiti State governor, Mrs. Bisi Fayemi, who commended Ogunlola for her outstanding performance, noted that her representation at the lower chamber had been superb in delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituency.

She said that Ogunlola had displayed exceptional qualities of leadership with her effective representation and supersonic empowerment programmes for women, widows, men and youths within her constituency.

She added that the commendations from the people and mammoth crowd seen at the event further affirmed the satisfaction and confidence the constituents have in Ogunlola’s leadership style.

In her remark, Ogunlola said that she was committed to enhancing the well-being of members of her constituency, promising to facilitate more developmental projects that will have direct impacts on the lives of the people.

MEANWHILE, the governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Segun Oni, has sympathised with the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Ekiti State Council, over the demise of its members within six months, while awaiting the payment of their N37 billion pension and gratuity arrears being owed them by the state government.

In a statement by Media Director of its Campaign Organisation, Mr. Jackson Adebayo, Oni said that people who had served their state meritoriously deserved better treatment than what they are getting from the government.

He, therefore, described the attitude of the current and immediate past government in the state to the welfare of the vulnerable residents as very discouraging.
