MUSON announces 25th Festival 2021
The Planning Committee of the 2021 Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Festival of the Arts will host its guests to a 25th anniversary of the yearly event, expected to take place from Thursday, October 21 to 24 in Lagos.
The Chairman of the committee, Mr. Ibare Akinsan, said the festival, which would be a mini one, is expected to feature four events beginning with MUSON Day on Thursday, October 21. It will feature cocktail, fanfare, traditional dirge music, and cutting of the anniversary cake and will be followed afterwards by the Francesca Emanuel Memorial Concert, in honour of one of the founding members and patrons of MUSON.
This will be followed by a two-day musical drama production on Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23, titled The Lost Chord, proudly sponsored by Chevron. The play, which highlights the achievements that come with pursuing one’s dreams and aspirations, is produced by the DeClassical Arts group, and directed by Ayo Ajayi.
The Francesca Emanuel Memorial Jazz Party, also in honour of Francesca Emanuel, will feature the MUSON Diploma School Band accompanying renowned saxophonist, Imoleayo Balogun and talented Jazz female singer, Yinka Davies, alongside other artistes on Saturday October 23.
The festival will end on Sunday, October 24 with a performance by MUSON Soloists and the MUSON Symphony Orchestra conducted by international ace German orchestra conductor, Water Michael Vollhardt.
