My vision is to return Army to path of professionalism, says COAS

Chief of Army Staff, (COAS), Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya, has said one of his visions for the Nigerian Army is to return soldiers to the path of professionalism.

He made this known, yesterday, during his address at the opening of the six-day Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs) convention 2021, with the theme: ‘Professionalism in a Regimented Environment: The RSM Perspective’.


The event was organised by the Army Headquarters Department of Administration and hosted by the headquarters of 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Dignitaries in attendance included Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Segun Ogunwuyi, who represented his principal, Seyi Makinde; a former military governor of Lagos State, Gen. Raji Rasaki (rtd); and General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Gold Chibuisi.

Yahaya, who was a special guest of honour at the opening ceremony, declared: “I have special regards for the RSMs of the Nigerian Army, down to Senior Non-Commission Officers (SNCOs) and NCOs, as well as average soldiers.”
