The Nigerian Air Force has expanded its community intervention programme by delivering new staff accommodation at Biseni Secondary School in Bayelsa State, as the military increasingly deploys education and infrastructure projects to strengthen ties with civilian communities.

The facility, commissioned on September 5 in Biseni, Yenagoa Local Government Area, comprises a two-bedroom flat and four self-contained apartments for school personnel.

The project was executed under the Chief of the Air Staff Special Intervention Projects initiative and dedicated in honour of Air Vice Marshal Ebimobo Ororowa Elijah Ebiowe, a senior Air Force officer from the community.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, said the intervention formed part of the Nigerian Air Force’s non-kinetic operations, which combine military responsibilities with initiatives intended to build trust and cooperation with civilian populations.

Representing the Air Force at the ceremony, Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command Air Vice Marshal Michael Nnanye Onyebashi said the Air Force considers strong civil-military relations important to national security and its operations across the country.

The initiative has produced intervention projects in several communities nationwide, including education, water and other infrastructure projects. The Biseni staff quarters are among the latest facilities delivered under the scheme.

The Bayelsa State Government said the new accommodation would support teachers and contribute to improved conditions at the secondary school.

The Secretary to the State Government, Nimibofa Ayawei, who represented Governor Douye Diri, described the project as a contribution to education and grassroots development in the state.

Ayawei also called on members of the Biseni community to protect the facility and build on the example of Ebiowe, whose connection to the community led to the intervention.

The Bayelsa commissioning came as the Nigerian Air Force carried out similar projects elsewhere in the country.

On the same day, the Air Force commissioned renovated school facilities and solar-powered boreholes in Potiskum, Yobe State, under its special intervention programme. The projects included renovated classrooms and laboratories as well as boreholes serving several communities.

The Air Force has also undertaken education-focused interventions in other parts of the country, including the commissioning of an ICT laboratory and upgraded facilities at a school in Lagos.

Military intervention projects have similarly featured in Bayelsa, where the Nigerian Navy recently renovated school facilities and provided water infrastructure in communities across the state.

The Nigerian Air Force said its latest intervention reflected its commitment to supporting community development while strengthening cooperation with civilian populations in communities where the service operates.
