NAFT.27 mourns Buhari, consoles Aisha, Mamman Daura

Former Nigeria president Muhammadu Buhari

The National Agenda For Tinubu 2027 (NAFT.27) has expressed condolences over the death of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in a London hospital at the age of 82.

In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by its National Convener, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim, MFR, the group extended sympathy to Buhari’s widow, former First Lady Hajia Aisha Buhari, urging her to bear the loss with strength.

Dr. Ibrahim noted that Buhari’s passing was part of the natural order of life and called on the former First Lady to take comfort in the belief that her husband had returned to his creator.

NAFT.27 also extended condolences to Alhaji Mamman Daura, the late president’s uncle and a former Managing Director of the New Nigerian Newspapers in the 1970s. Dr. Ibrahim called on Daura and other members of the Buhari family to accept the death as the will of God.

In the statement, Dr. Ibrahim prayed that Almighty Allah grant the former president eternal rest and accept his soul.

Reflecting on Buhari’s time in office, Dr. Ibrahim described him as a leader concerned with the basic and essential needs of Nigerians. He said the late president would be remembered in the country’s political history as someone who made efforts to build a more equitable society, despite the constraints of his background as a former military officer and later a civilian leader.

According to Dr. Ibrahim, Buhari’s actions were undertaken within the bounds of his personal and professional capacity.

He acknowledged that public opinion on the former president varied widely and that many viewed him differently depending on their political affiliations or relationships with him.
