The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) on Friday commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC) for generating a record revenue of N95.7 billion in August.

The NAGAFF`s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Stanley Ezenga, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Lagos.

He described the figure, the highest in a decade, as a feat and urged the revenue collecting service to do all it could to improve the figure in the interest of the economy.

“This is a big feat. We commend the Customs for this achievement and we are urging them to sustain the tempo and even improve upon this to help the economy in these recession times.

“In as much as we are congratulating the Customs on this, we enjoin them to go about their operations with a human face.

“They should check the activities of the bad eggs among them and ensure that their business was conducted in a way that the interests of stakeholders are not harmed.

“Once again, we commend the Customs for the feat and wish them well in their efforts to improve revenue, “ he said.

Ezenga described NAGAFF as a major stakeholder in the maritime industry and called for a better business relationship between the Customs and freight forwarders.
