For more Nigerians to participate in the yearly hajj, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has launched a new payment scheme for intending pilgrims in the South West.

The scheme is a seamless plan that would further avail less-privileged Muslims the opportunity to save enough money over a period of time for pilgrimage to the holy land.

Speaking during the launch of the Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS) in Lagos yesterday, the Chairman of NAHCON, Alh. Zikrullah Hassan, said the scheme was a historic milestone in the long walk towards self-financing, to wean Nigerians from scarce government resources, which could be used for infrastructure and other social services in the country.

The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Anofiu Elegushi, urged Nigerians to tap into the opportunity provided by the scheme.
