NAICOM workers call off strike
The Three-day industrial action embarked upon by employees of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has been called off.
A statement yesterday in Abuja by the commission’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Rasaq Salami, said the move followed an agreement reached between the management and workers in a peace meeting brokered by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige.
The document reads: “ The MOU was signed today (yesterday) by both parties. Normal work resumes tomorrow (today), as the staff have unlocked the gates and offices.”
The workers had vented their anger over alleged non-promotion, dearth of work tools as well as non-payment of their allowances.
The delay in the review of the Insurance Act 2003 by the National Assembly was also part of their demands.
They claimed that the piece of legislation would ensure timely implementation of policies.
