NASENI empowers 230 Oyo women with clean stoves, 40 men with solar systems

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has empowered 270 beneficiaries in Oyo State with sustainable energy solutions, providing clean cookstoves to 230 women and solar home systems to 40 men.

The intervention was carried out under the NASENI Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP) at an event held on Wednesday at Alice Place, Ibadan.

The programme, facilitated by APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, brought together beneficiaries, APC stakeholders, party members and other invited guests.

Speaking through the Director-General of his campaign council, Asiwaju Yemi Aderibigbe, Alli lauded NASENI for extending the sustainable empowerment initiative to Oyo State.

He said the intervention demonstrated NASENI’s commitment to translating science, technology and innovation into practical solutions capable of improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

According to him, the provision of clean cookstoves and solar home systems represented an empowerment approach that went beyond financial assistance by promoting cleaner energy, healthier households, environmental sustainability and improved economic well-being.

Alli said access to clean cooking solutions could reduce dependence on traditional fuels, while improving household health and reducing environmental pressure.

He added that solar home systems could provide reliable and affordable energy for domestic use and small-scale economic activities.

The APC candidate commended NASENI for placing women and vulnerable members of society at the centre of its sustainable development intervention.

He also appreciated the agency’s leadership for ensuring that the programme reached beneficiaries from diverse backgrounds, including persons with disabilities.

Alli urged the beneficiaries to make responsible use of the equipment and become advocates of sustainable energy and community development.

Speaking on behalf of NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, Khalilu Suleiman Halilu, Olusegun Ayeoyenikan said the agency was committed to transforming society through science, technology and engineering innovation.

Ayeoyenikan said NASENI was focused on developing tools and technologies that could make life easier for households while promoting the application of technology to address everyday challenges.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ashaolu Janet expressed appreciation to NASENI and Senator Alli for the initiative.

She said the beneficiaries appreciated the support and prayed for the continued success of NASENI.
