Nationwide special operation for border integrity, says Immigration

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mohammed Babandede, has said that the Operation Swift Response (OSR) being carried out in parts of the federation was to protect the nation’s borders and check smuggling.

Presenting a paper on “Diversification and Border Management in Nigeria: Challenges And Prospects” to participants of Course 28 of the National Defence College yesterday in Abuja, Babandede said the exercise being coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in partnership with the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), the police, Immigration and the Customs, was strategic not only for internal security, but also to boost Nigeria’s economy.
