The Director, Polytechnic Programmes, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Ngbede Ogoh, has assured that the board would not relent in the pursuit of quality assurance in the accreditation of courses for polytechnics to ensure that they produce quality graduates that would contribute to the growth of the nation’s economy.

Ogoh said this when he led a team to accredit National Diploma (ND) courses in Computer Engineering, Electrical Electronics and Accountancy at TimeOn Kairos Polytechnic and Professional Institute.

Speaking further, he said: “We were here sometime in the past for accreditation of courses amongst which were Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Accountancy, but due to certain deficiencies discovered, we had to defer the full accreditation exercise for these courses.

“Quality assurance is very important because the world has become a global village and we constantly aim at producing graduates that can compete in any part of the world.

“Polytechnic graduates should be able to meet the demand of industries or the market in any part of the world and most importantly, in any field of endeavour they decide to delve into. They should be able to hit the ground running which is the benefit of quality assurance.”

On his part, the Proprietor, TimeOn Kairos Polytechnic and Professional Institute, Dr. Titus Kolawole Oyeyemi, said that in 2018, the team was in the school to accredit four National Diploma courses but returned in May 2022 to give interim approval for three out of the four courses while one scaled through.

He expressed optimism that this time around the courses would be fully accredited.

He disclosed that MBTE had accredited 17 courses for the institution.
