The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said lack of capacity by Nigerian airlines is the major reason for flight disruptions and delays in the country.
The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NCAA, Michael Achimugu, disclosed this yesterday at an event organised by the agency in Abuja.
This comes amid the surge in passenger flight delays and cancellations in the Nigerian aviation sector. NCAA, however, noted that the recently signed Practice Direction (Cape Town Convention) and Irrevocable De-Registration and Export Request Authorisation (IDERA) would enable airlines to access more aircraft and boost the growth in the sector. It expressed optimism that access to aircraft would put an end to flight disruptions and reduce the cost of airfares to boost the country’s economy.
