Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande, has disclosed that an N500 million ICT Park would be established in Ibadan this year.

Akande made this disclosure in a remark while hosting the executive and members of a socio-cultural group, Omo Ajorosun Club, at his residence in Ibadan. The group went to honour him with an award of excellence as part of activities to mark the club’s anniversary.

According to him, the ICT park, being funded by the NCC, would create jobs and empower the youths.

The ICT Park, according to the NCC boss, will provide innovation and digital fabrication laboratories for the ICT innovators and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into products and prototypes.

He expressed gratitude to the club for deeming it fit to honour him, promising to always identify with Ibadan, which is a town of his birth.

The club’s President, who lauded Akande for his contributions to the growth and development of Ibadanland, said the award was a mark of recognition and expression of gratitude.

He assured that the indigenes of Ibadan would not discriminate against non-indigenes of the town.
