NCMG International hosts Chief Justice Menon of Singapore
In line with the primary ethos of NCMG International on justice sector reform and economic development in Africa, NCMG International is hosting the Chief Justice of Singapore, Hon. Justice Sandaresh Menon from Wednesday November 13 to Friday November 15, 2019.
The major event during the visit of Justice Menon is Conference on Access to Justice and Peace Building scheduled for November 14, 2019.
The Theme of the conference is “Access to Justice, Peace building and the Place of Technology in Economic Growth: A Time for Change”. The NCMG Conference shall begin with a thorough review of the problems leading to the rising inequality towards justice over the past half-century; examine the different dimensions of the justice gap and the empowerment of various instruments to close each dimension of the gap. The conference will also deliberate on the contribution of technology towards building the processes that address the unmet legal needs and the collective responsibility of everyone towards peace building in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. Chief Justice Menon will give the keynote address while other notable speakers speak on the theme of the conference.
Menon will deliver the keynote address and other notable personalities will make presentations on issues relating to technology and its effect on the legal system, commerce and the economy at large. The keynote speaker is a renowned international jurist with extensive reform initiative within the judicial and private sector in Asia. As a former Attorney General, Justice Menon worked tirelessly to help develop Singapore as an international arbitration hub and SIAC as one of the world’s premier arbitration centers. He contributed to the drafting of SIAC’s rules and advanced his theories on regulation of international arbitration.
