The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a public notification to residents of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauyd, and Afaka general areas regarding the upcoming Range Management Package for Army Cadets of the 71 Regular Course.

The exercise is slated to be held from January 9th to February 2nd, 2024, at the NDA Open Range in Afaka.

Assuring the public of stringent safety measures, the NDA emphasized the importance of maintaining caution and avoiding trespassing in the designated areas throughout the exercise period. Major General John Ochai, Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, highlighted that proactive steps have been taken to ensure the successful conduct of the program.

The Range Management Package holds significant relevance in the training regimen of Army Cadets, providing them with hands-on experience and practical exposure to range operations. The exercise forms an integral part of their training curriculum, focusing on enhancing their proficiency in various tactical and operational aspects.

The NDA’s proactive measures aim to guarantee the smooth execution of the exercise, minimizing any potential risks to the local community and ensuring the safety of all involved. The institution urges the cooperation of the general public in adhering to the advisory to steer clear of the exercise area during the stipulated period.

Major Mohammed Maidawa, the Academy Public Relations Officer in his statement conveyed gratitude for the continuous support and cooperation received from the public in ensuring the smooth conduct of these training exercises.

He urged residents and inhabitants of the mentioned areas to “heed the advisory and avoid entering the exercise zone to guarantee their safety and contribute to the successful execution of the Range Management Package for the Army Cadets.

“For further inquiries or clarifications, concerned individuals are advised to contact the Nigerian Defence Academy for guidance and additional information regarding the exercise,” the spokesman said.
